About me

I am an applied scientist at Amazon. Before joining Amazon, I was a machine learning researcher in Alibaba (DAMO Academy, Machine Intelligence Technology Team).

I received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering Department at University of Southern California (USC). My Ph.D. advisor is Prof. Michael J. Neely. My Ph.D. dissertation received 2018 Best Dissertation Award in Electrical Engineering-Systems at USC. During my Ph.D. study, I also received the M.A. in Applied Mathematics. Before coming to USC, I received the B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and the M.Phil. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Research interests

My research focuses on developing efficient algorithms for large scale optimization (e.g., training deep neural networks), stochastic network optimization (e.g., resource allocation, scheduling, delay and congestion control in networks) and online learning (e.g., statistical, adversarial or bandit learning) in decision making.
